Chinese hackers have targeted more than two dozen universities in the U.S. and around the globe as part of an elaborate scheme to steal research about maritime technology being developed for military use, cybersecurity experts and current and former U.S. officials said.
The research is the latest indication that Chinese cyberattacks to steal U.S. military and economic secrets are on the rise. The .
The majority of the universities targeted either house research hubs focused on undersea technology or have faculty on staff with extensive experience in a relevant field, and nearly all have links to a Massachusetts oceanographic institute that also was likely compromised in the cyber campaign, iDefense said.
Some have been awarded contracts by the Navy. Others, including Sahmyook University in South Korea, appeared to be targeted because of their proximity to China, and relevance to the South China Sea, the analysts said.

Begum resurfaced at a refugee camp in Syria and wants to come home. But her apparent lack of remorse has triggered criticism in Britain and the family has expressed its own shock at her lack of repentance.

She married a Dutch man who wants to take her to the Netherlands with their newborn son. British Home Secretary has revoked Begum's citizenship.
Her husband, Yago Riedijk, 27, told the BBC, from a Kurdish-run detention center, that he met Begum within days of her arrival in Syria when she was 15. He said the marriage was "her own choice."
While it's unclear if Begum has committed a crime, her comments — and those of her husband — throw into questions about how Western societies will deal with others who joined IS but want to return back now that the extremist group is on the verge of collapse.

a close up of an object: Maryland Senate passes proposed Styrofoam ban
Maryland could become the first state to ban expanded polystyrene food service products.

The measure bans the sale of Styrofoam. It also would prohibit the sale of food in foam cups, plates or egg cartons.
Since expanded polystyrene is 95 percent air, it is not worth the cost of recycling once it is processed and cleaned.
Critics say the measure would harm small farmers who use egg cartons or nonprofits that buy expanded polystyrene in bulk, the outlet noted.
"We're just saying small Maryland businesses can't use these products. But the big, large businesses from outside the state can ship these products into Maryland," Maryland Republican Minority Whip Sen. Stephen Hershey said.
Many large cities, individually, banned these products from use.

Advocating the government print money without worrying about paying the bills to guarantee jobs for everyone, Medicare for all, or the Green New Deal is a dangerous approach being pushed by far-left Democrats, former Barack Obama economic advisor Larry Summers told CNBC.
"This Modern Monetary Theory, where we can guarantee jobs for everybody or have Medicare for all and just rely on money printing to finance it, I think that is quite a dangerous approach," Summers said.
Kelton told CNBC last week that the core of MMT is the idea of government-guaranteed full employment. "What we would do is effectively establish a public option in the labor market," and when companies want to hire they can dip into this pool, instead of bidding up wages for workers who already have jobs, she explained.

* This will guarantee the deterioration of the economics, culture, schools, Society, and the country all together. Yay Dems.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administrationon approved Johnson & Johnson's nasal spray antidepressant that is chemically similar to often-abused ketamine, marking the first advance in treating depression in more than 30 years.
The treatment comes with a boxed warning, flagging the risk for sedation and difficulty with attention, judgment and thinking, abuse and misuse, and suicidal thoughts after administration of the drug.
Spravato is a chemical mirror image of anesthetic ketamine, which is abused as a recreational party drug.
Spravato has been touted as an asset with blockbuster potential and is expected to improve investor sentiment toward the growth prospects of J&J's pharma unit Janssen, as its top-selling rheumatoid arthritis drug Remicade faces increased competitiobn from cheaper biosimilars.

The US and Russian military chiefs are to meet in Vienna to discuss operations in Syria, where the US has decided to leave a residual force to protect its Kurdish allies.
Since Russia's entry into the Syria conflict in 2015, Moscow and Washington have worked out their respective areas of operations against the Islamic State group, warning each other of planned air operations to avoid contact.
The military chiefs have kept open a channel of communications despite all issues.
In August 2018, Russia sent a confidential letter, which leaked, containing proposals for cooperation to assure Syria's reconstruction and the return of refugees.
Let us hope for the best for the Syrian children.  Just a thought.

House Democrats will offer a resolution  condemning anti-Semitism in response to Rep. Ilhan Omar's latest remarks on Israel.
The declaration, supported by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, comes after Omar made new remarks about Israel that critics decried as anti-Semitic. She said "political influence in this country that says it is okay for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country."
The Anti-Defamation League has demanded that House Democrats offer a resolution that makes clear every member of Congress opposes anti-Semitism.

Democrats over the weekend drafted a resolution with that message. Its text was not final yet.
