Reschedule...

Researchers in 2007 proposed three criteria for a behavior to be classified as academic procrastination: it must be counterproductive, needless, and delaying.

Procrastination is to voluntarily delay an intended course of action despite expecting to be worse off for the delay. Putting a task off is not procrastination if there are rational reasons for doing so.

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean that scammers are taking a break. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has issued a warning about a new telephone scam.

In the scam, callers posing as IRS representatives advise potential victims that two certified letters were sent to the taxpayer in the mail but were returned as undeliverable. The callers then threaten to arrest the potential victim if a payment is not immediately made through a prepaid debit card. The scammer also tells the victim that the purchase of the card is linked to the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) system: it is not.

To ensure that the potential victim doesn’t back out, the caller warns the taxpayer not to contact their tax preparer, an attorney or their local IRS office until after the tax payment is made. This should be a red flag.         Hang up and call the IRS directly (1.800.829.1040) for more information.

Qatar said it has signed a $12 billion deal to buy F-15 fighter jets from the United States  just days after President Donald Trump accused the country of being a "high-level" sponsor of terrorism. The announcement came after the country's defense minister met with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis in Washington.

News of the sale comes amid a diplomatic crisis. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates cut diplomatic and transport ties with Qatar last week and accused it of supporting terrorism and regional unrest.

Despite these allegations, Qatar is a crucial ally to Washington in the Middle East. It is home to 10,000 American troops and a major American military base that acts as the center of U.S. operations in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The sale appeared to be another example of the confusing series of mixed messages sent by the Trump administration, in which the White House speaks in an entirely different voice from the military and diplomatic wing of the U.S. government.  Just a thought.

A sex scandal involving Oakland police has spread with the woman at the center of it claiming she had sex with two dozen current and former officers in five cities.

The woman, a Richmond resident who was not named, tells the East Bay Times that she slept with three of the 24 officers before she turned 18 last August.
She also tells that two Oakland officers provided her confidential police information, including tips on scheduled anti-prostitution stings. In addition, she says a retired Oakland police captain in his 80s paid $250 to have sex with her in a motel.  Oakland Police Chief Sean Whent stepped down and gave no reason for his resignation.

The woman, who began selling herself on the streets of Richmond at age 12 and eventually ended up in Oakland's International Boulevard, a well known sex-trafficking hub, said many officers knew she was underage.
"They were my protectors," she said. "I didn't have a pimp at the time. It did make me feel safer, having them."                    Source: reported by AP-Oakland 6-12-2016- ABC.

Prosecutors, Judges, Bailiffs, Lawyers, Defendants, Securities personnel, Jailers, Productivity loss, and lives in shame?
Would it be a scandal if it happened in France?    Just a thought.

German authorities arrested four Syrian brothers on terrorism charges for allegedly fighting for an extremist group in their homeland five years ago.  They are accused of membership in a terrorist organization for fighting for the Nusra Front in the northern Syrian city Ras al-Ayn starting in late 2012.
Two of which are also charged with war crimes for allegedly forcing civilians from the city and plundering their possessions.
In a separate case, prosecutors said that a 31-year-old Syrian arrested in February has been released. He was accused of membership in a terror group and of committing a war crime by raping a woman as she tried to flee IS-controlled territory in Syria.
Prosecutors have said that the suspect ran an IS checkpoint set up to control people leaving territory held by the group. The allegations relate to an incident in early 2016 in which a Syrian woman tried to flee with her children.
