“I’m going to bring down drug prices,” Trump said, according to a transcript of an interview posted on Time magazine’s website as it named him its Man of the Year. “I don’t like what’s happened with drug prices.”
Over the past 18 months, companies including EpiPen allergy shot maker Mylan NV and Valeant Pharmaceuticals have borne the brunt of public outrage over costs.
Continually rising drug prices have placed a heavy burden on consumers, many of whom cannot afford their medicines or face increasing co-pays on prescription drugs.
If the drug companies think that they're going to continue to have free rein to set and raise drug prices because of Trump, I think they're deluding themselves," said Erik Gordon, professor at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. "Nobody who voted for him is in favor of high drug prices."
This is one easy step Trump can do which will give tax break to senior citizens, a gift to Medicare, and Medicaid and a boost the economic activities from the money saved on medication.
